Gordon Greenberg and many others. Shawn Levy and Brett Chattman

Jack Romano. Thousands of memories: "Good morning Stagedoor"and
many you shouting back from your rooms for me to be quiet! Loved
it. And the trips to the Alladin--if you never performed there
you missed a Catskill tradition. And those wonderful last nights
where Elsie and I would "patrol" until the sun came up. And the
day I met Barb--and knew instantly she had to be a part of
Stagedoor. Lucky for us! Got my Equity card after leaving camp
and have been working on stage ever since. Just finished DISNEY'S
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Life is sweet--and for all of us who loved
Stagdoor and were lucky enough to be there when it was just
growing, the memories wlll always make us smile. Would love to
hear from you all. Love and hugs. JASON |

| Date : Fri Jun 15 20:33:22 2007 Name : Doug Israel E-mail Address : dougrhon at earthlink.net Message : I attended Stagedoor Manor for
one summer in 1982. As hard as it is to believe, by coincidence
we are hitting the silver anniversary this week. I was fifteen.
Now I am 40 with a wife and two children of my own, my 8 year old
daughter attending sleepaway camp for the first time this summer.
I don't think about it constantly but from time to time Stagedoor
returns to my consciousness. Obviously I thought about it when
the film camp was released, although the experiences described in
that film were very different from my own. It was then I learned
of the passing of Elsie Samuelson. Prior to that, I had been on
vacation at Kutsher's in 199 which is just down route 17 from
Loch Sheldrake so I drove over with my wife and daughter to show
them the camp. When I saw that the Theater had been named the
Jack ROmano Theater I knew he too had passed away. Most recently,
today I saw a feature story in the New York Post about Stagedoor
and that led me to seek out this website. It was 25 years ago but
my memories of that summer are incredibly strong and I believe
that the summer of 1982 may have been the best summer of my
entire childhood. I met such cool and wonderful people at
Stagedoor that summer. Although I always loved theater and
acting, I never had the kind of talent that would make me think
about a career. But I found Stagedoor to be a place where
amatures could mingle well with serious professionals and hopeful
professionals. I remember many many faces and some names. A few I
noticed on this message board. Obviously I remember David Q
although I would be stunned if he remembers me. Jon Sherman is
someone I remember hanging out with a lot that summer and I saw
him post a few times. It's hard to think of him as someone who is
a grown man with a wife but then it's hard to think of me that
way. Mashie Frankel is someone I remember not just from Stagedoor
that summer but from the following summer when we were on a
Baron's Teen Tour together. I have many strong strong memories
from that summer. I appeared in Fiddler on the Roof with Jon
Cryer as Perchick. I stillt ell people about thatt ot his day. I
played Mendel the Rabbi's son . I thought Jon was a tremendous
dramatic actor and always thought he should be doing serious
drama instead of the light comedy he has become known for (not
that he's not good at that as well) I did Mame which starred a
great performer you all know named Gordon wo starred as both
young AND old Patrick, the only time I have seen that. Third
session I did Cabaret, directed by (I can't believe I remember
this) Deborah Baer Quinn. I directed a play in Festival Week
called "Impromptu which placed second to a play directed by Eric
Blanc called "The Man in the Bowler Hat" (How do I remember
this?) I was always proud that Jack Romano came to me that night
and said he thought I had great potential as a director and that
he gave my play the most votes of all of them. My lead actress
(Jessica something) also one best actress for her part and I
always felt I had something to do with that. I made some great
friends that summer, my roomates Stephen Dixon and Mike Brodsky.
And David Sacks who was an old hand but never made me feel like a
newbie and who starred as Tevye in that production of Fiddler.
Other guys I remember? Marc Leavitt from Manhattan, a cool guy
who liked to make funny sketch comedy tapes, the aforementioned
Jon Sherman, a guy named Barry who played Mottel in Fiddler and
who's last name escapes me. A cool guy named Ian who was VERY
into the Who (along with many of us that summer before the
"farewell tour") and who played Ernst in Cabaret. A very nice
girl named Michele Finkelstein and many others as well. The
memories will last as long as I do. If anyone out there remembers
me or has any other memories of that summer and wants to contact
me, I would love to hear from anyone. I still can't believe it's
been 25 years. |

original broadway cast and she was AMAZING. She was beyond
heartbreaking and too adorable for words and has one the most
amazing new voices I have heard in a long, long time. She is sure

she learned most everything at summer camp. Having just seen
Erich Bergen, I guess another alum, in Jersey Boys, I am now
looking into your camp thanks to their abilities and to her
endorsment. You should be so proud of your campers. If Dana and
